What To Wear For Your Engagement Session

Choosing what to wear for your engagement session can often be a challenge. So We are here to help!

First of all, take time to appreciate this moment in your life! Its so easy to get caught up in the busy world that it can be hard to remember how special today is. But an engagement photo session gives you a chance to capture some memories and celebrate these moments from your future and present selves.

So don't stress about what to wear. Wear something gorgeous and fun and perfect for you, that you feel Good In!

Tip #1 - Go for neutrals and pastels.

You'll want to avoid bright colors as they can be distracting. After all, you don't want your dress or shirt to be the focus of the photos. Consider light colors like pastels, cool tones, or neutrals and add a pop of color with your shoes or accessories.

Tip #2 - Avoid matching, but avoid clashing too.

This is especially important if you're not used to wearing specific colors or if you don't like one particular color. You want your dress, shoes, accessories and makeup to all match. Without perfect planning, the look will come across as sloppy.

"Look for colors that compliment one another vs wearing the same color, over and over"

Tip #3 - Add an accessory or two.

We love gems and metals, but don't forget about those other jewels! Be sure to wear your favorite earrings or your most stunning necklace, but also consider carrying a plain gold bracelet that matches your skin tone. Scarves can be very useful during a shoot, like wrapping them around your partner to pull them in closer.

Tip #4 - Pick classic looks.

A great way to express your unique personality is through your engagement photos! There's no right or wrong outfit, but there are some options you should consider if you want to stick with a familiar style. Fashion changes every year. But you should try and wear clothing that is timeless. You don't want to look back in a few years and think; why did I wear that Flamingo dress with Pink Boa. Unless that is just your personality.

Good timeless pieces are solids that are form fitting, that you probably already have in your closet. There is a reason why you never get rid of them.

Tip #5 - Limit the number of outfits.

You want to bring something different to your session, something that you love and feel comfortable in. But don't over-dress! There's no need to wear a formal dress or skirt if you don't enjoy dressing up. And if you do plan to look nice, try wearing a unique accessory. Something other than a pretty necklace and earrings. That way, your photographer can capture your smile and personal style.

Also keep in mind that you only have so much time during the shoot. By limiting your number of outfits, you don't waste time changing clothes. Instead use that time to get more images.

BONUS - Choose outfits that express your personality.

Your engagement photos are just as important to you as they are to anyone seeing them. That's why its essential to choose accessories and attire that expresses who you are as a couple. If you want to wear something especially stylish, don't stress about looking formal. A gorgeous dress or tailored jacket can be the perfect addition to your images. Be yourself, but be the best version of yourself and you can't go wrong.
